Do Not Be Afraid, Only Believe

When I was in high school, I began to be afraid of many things. I feared communicating with people, the environment, and the coming events. So, I would choose to escape and avoid some things coming my way. I thought of many things during this process, and I often did not even know what I was afraid of. So, I chose not to talk or have deeper conversations with others. Whether it was reporting in school or sharing in the church meetings, a sense of fear overcame me. Because of this, a kind of envy rose up in me – I envied those who could speak boldly in front of a crowd when I really could not.

I hated my feeling of fear; it made me lose many learning opportunities. I often tried to overcome it on my own, but it always resulted in failure. But thank and praise the Lord, Luke 8:50 says, “… Do not be afraid–only believe ….” This verse became my salvation. I realized that I have the Lord Jesus in me. I have a victorious life in me. From this realization, I began to learn the secret of calling on the name of the Lord and praying.

Whenever I turn from this fear to the Lord, and out of this fear I call, “O Lord Jesus,” and pray to Him to cast my fears before His presence, it is so wonderful because I gain inward peace. Although I am still afraid, the Lord has become my inward strength, supporting me behind the scenes to carry me through every fear and situation. My Lord is a victorious Lord, and no situation is greater than He. Today, all I have to do is behold Him. No matter how difficult it may be, we are sure to overcome through the Lord. I cannot say that I am now completely without fear, but I can testify that whenever I call on Him, the fear in me dissipates, and I am no longer inwardly fearful. Praise the Lord, friends, brothers and sisters, although there are many things in our lives that we cannot surmount, but because we have the Lord Jesus and this victorious life, He is able to make us overcome fear in all our situations.
