Who Is Jesus? Three Reasons You Can Believe in Jesus

Who is Jesus? Is He the Son of God? Let us briefly discuss the life of Jesus and the reasons why it is not unreasonable to believe in Him. Let us look at His history to see if there is evidence in God’s revelation, the Bible, concerning Him.

(1)  Jesus Clearly Declaring that He is God

Jesus equated man’s attitude toward Him with man’s attitude toward God. He said that to know Him is to know God, to see Him is to see God, and to believe into Him is to believe into God (John 12:45; 14:9, 1).

(2)  Who is Jesus?  Is He the Son of God?

When we consider Jesus’s declaration about His identity, there are four possibilities. He might have been a cheater, a lunatic, a legend, or what He said was the truth. The first possibility is that Jesus was lying when He said that He is God. But if He were an intentional liar, He could not have been called a great moral teacher. The second possibility is that He was a lunatic. However, when we examine Jesus’s life, we cannot find any evidence to prove that He had a mental problem. The third possibility is that the theory of “Jesus is God” is merely a legend. However, this theory of legend has already been overthrown by many discoveries from modern archaeologists. The fourth possibility, which is the only possibility, is that what Jesus said is entirely true. There is evidence to prove His declaration concerning Himself.  He said: “But if I do them, even if you do not believe Me, believe the works so that you may come to know and continue to know that the Father is in Me and I am in the Father” (John 10:38).

(3)  Evidence from Jesus’s Life

First, Jesus’s human virtues were confirmed by the declarations concerning Him.  The Bible says: “[He] committed no sin, nor was guile found in His mouth” (1 Pet. 2:22). Second, Jesus showed His supernatural power when he rebuked the winds and the sea, turned the water into wine, and raised the dead. His enemy did not deny these miracles but wanted to kill Him because of them. His opposers said: “If we let Him do so, all will believe into Him…” (John 11:48). Third, Jesus confirmed His declaration of resurrection from the dead, predicting five times that He would die, how He would die, and that He would be raised from the dead on the third day and appear to His disciples.

Jesus Is Truly the Son of God

Since Jesus has resurrected, we can have the full assurance that God indeed exists, and we can also know what kind of God He is, and how we can personally experience Him. Now you can welcome Jesus into your life. You may tell Him: “O Lord Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and enter into me. Thank You for allowing me to have a genuine relationship with You.”
