Turning Sorrow into Joy
Today, people face numerous difficulties: high stress in daily life, competition in schooling, troubles in interpersonal relationships, disharmony in family, disputes in divorce, loved ones’ passing, health problems, loss of education, unemployment, financial crisis, etc. All these lead to the feelings of depression, disappointment, and helplessness. Some predicted that depression will be the No. 1 cause of human disability in 2020.
More than four thousand years ago, King Solomon said: “A joyful heart is good medicine, / But a broken spirit dries up the bones” (Prov. 17:22). A peaceful and joyful heart can improve our overall well-being. To those who have received the life of Christ, as a result of our believing into Him, we exult with great joy that is unspeakable and full of glory (1 Pet. 1:8). Receiving God’s life and allowing Him to dwell in our heart is the reason for our inexhaustible joy.
The Bible says: “In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses every man’s understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7).
If we believe into Him, He will surely care for us. Let us open our mouth and call together: “O Lord Jesus! O Lord Jesus!” Calling on the Lord is just like taking a deep breath. In this way we can breathe out the sorrows in our heart and breathe in the peace and joy from God.
Dear friend, by setting the goal of our life on God who cares for us, our sorrow will spontaneously turn into joy.
