Being Willing to Come to the Lord to Receive Life

When we are sick, we need to go to a doctor. When our home appliance is broken, we need to go to a repairman. When our car breaks down, we need to go to a mechanic. When we have problem with our soul, to whom should we go? The Lord Jesus said: “I am the way and the reality and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). For “there is salvation in no other, for neither is there another name under heaven given among men in which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Nicodemus was a very moral and highly respected religionist and ruler of the Jews. He saw the signs that Jesus did and knew that He was sent by God. He longed for the teachings of Jesus. However, Jesus the carpenter and this elderly gentleman were of very different social statuses, so he deliberately went to see Jesus at night in private to avoid embarrassment. He sincerely spoke with the Lord face to face. Unfortunately, he could not let go of the bondages of culture and tradition and returned empty-handed from a treasure store.

An adulterous Samaritan woman who had five husbands served as a stark contrast to Nicodemus. One day at noon, Jesus revealed to her by the well that she needed to drink of the living water of life. She was humbled and willing to be instructed, so she was enlightened by God and immediately received salvation with joy.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone who believes into Him would not perish, but would have eternal life” (John 3:16). When Jesus was crucified, the robber who was crucified next to him confessed that he was a sinner, and his soul was thus saved. Today, Jesus the Son of God is still willing to invite people to come to Him to receive life. If you are willing to believe and receive Him, you will receive His life. Dear friend, are you willing? Please open your mouth and pray to Him: “O Lord Jesus, I am willing to come to You that I may receive life. All the pursuits in the world cannot satisfy the thirst in the depths of my being. I believe into You to receive the living water of Your life to be the fountain of my life, so that I will never thirst again.”
