The Righteous Shall Live by Faith

The highest creature on earth and the most intelligent of all creatures is none other than human beings. Compared to all other creatures, man can be considered the ruler of all, for he is able to determine the life and death, the fate of all other creatures. However, compared to the vast expanse of the universe, what is man’s worth? He is but a small creature in the universe. In the infinite stretch of time, man is like a vapor, appearing only for a short while and then disappearing. Generation after generation, the cycle continues.

Facing the outbreak of the coronavirus, what can man do? In the face of disaster, how fragile and powerless man is. So negligible and insignificant, man is like a small lamb before a devouring lion, full of fear and helpless, having nowhere to escape. What is man? People thought they are in control of their lives. Little do they know that though they may have lofty ambitions, life and death are not in their hands. They are utterly unable to change the circumstances they are in. When disasters come, man is so helpless and pitiful.

In fact, man is nothing but a drop from the bucket, as specks of dust on the scales (Isa. 40:15). But even though man is so small, God still remembers him. The book of Psalms in the Bible says: “What is mortal man, that You remember him, / And the son of man, that You visit him?” (Psa. 8:4). Although man is so lowly, God visits him. God created man according to His own likeness and made man a unique species among the creatures. He gave all the produce of the earth to man for him to enjoy. He prepared the mountains and waters that are pleasing to man’s sight, with singing birds and fragrant flowers that are pleasant and refreshing to him. Besides enabling man to live and multiply generation after generation, God also gives man wisdom so that man can continue to explore, discover, invent, and innovate.

In addition to giving man various physical provisions, God desires even more to give man His divine, eternal, and uncreated life. The Bible tells us: “The righteous shall have life and live by faith” (Rom. 1:17). Two thousand years ago God visited man by becoming a man named Jesus, who then went to the cross to die for man’s sins and then resurrected to become the life-giving Spirit. Now as the Spirit, He can come into anyone who would simply receive Him. Thus, if you would simply believe and receive the Lord Jesus, this One who is the vast and priceless treasure of the universe will be with you forever. You will find the true meaning of life and overcome the sense of helplessness and feeling lost. You will no longer feel empty and bitter but will fully enjoy the eternal life. Let us pray: “O Lord Jesus, I believe in You and receive You as my Savior. Please come into me and be my eternal life so I may no longer be empty and bitter. Thank You Lord Jesus.”
