Three Reasons to Believe the Bible

(1)  Who wrote the Bible? How is it different from other religious classics?

The Bible is unique compared to all other religious classics.  It was not written by one person. The Old and New Testaments were written in Asia, Africa, and Europe, by forty various authors, over a period of about 1600 years. Besides its unique authorship, the Bible contains many prophecies which were fulfilled one by one over the years. For instance, a number of prophets prophesied the coming of the Messiah in about three hundred detailed prophecies, including where He was born and where He grew up.  Hundreds of years later, all these prophecies were fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The fulfillments of the prophecies were the proof of why the authors could write in this way — “Jehovah said so ….”  It was because the writers were representing the speaking of the One from the “Beginning.”

(2)  Was the Bible edited? Were some of its contents lost in translation over the years?

Some thought the New Testament was translated many times, and that some of its contents might have been lost in translation.  If the translations had been based on other versions of translations, that might have occurred.  However, the translations were not based on other translations; rather, they were based on the original Greek manuscripts.

We believe that the New Testament in our hands is faithful to its original content due to the following reasons:

  • There are over five thousand manual copies of the manuscripts.
  • These copies are 99.5% accurate in their content.
  • The time these manuscripts were discovered is close to the original time these manuscripts were written.

Therefore, the New Testament is the most reliable document of ancient times.

(3)  Many lives are changed by this Book.

The Bible is the most popular book of all times in human history. Every time people encountered sufferings, or wandered around, they all turned to the Bible for comfort, hope, and instruction. The word “Bible” comes from the Greek “Biblos,” which means “the Book.”  It refers to the Bible as the unique Book of all books.

In our history, many famous persons believed in Christ after reading and being touched by this Book. Over a period of two thousand years, many kings, emperors, and governments have wanted to destroy the Bible.  Yet nothing on earth has been able to remove people from this Book, nor from the Wonderful Person in this Book. The Christ revealed in the Bible is still as fresh as He was two thousand years ago.  There is not any other biography that has changed so many people’s lives as the life of Jesus Christ has.

Dear friends, are you willing to read this “Book of books” that has changed so many people’s lives?
