Three Bible Verses You Must Read When Anxious

(1) “Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself; sufficient for the day is its own evil.” (Matt. 6:34)

Anxiety does not resolve issues; on the contrary, it generates greater ones. To be not anxious does not mean we disengage and be apathetic; rather, it is to be released from unnecessary burdens.

The Lord’s word is dependable. He said, “…do not be anxious for tomorrow….” Do not be anxious for any one thing tomorrow. It is needless to borrow tomorrow’s anxiety for today. A day only has a day’s worth of evil. Tomorrows are not in your hands; do not live a life that lives for the tomorrows, but a life that lives for the todays. Live not in tomorrows, but in todays. Draw a line for yourself: I will only care for the matters of todays; for tomorrows, I prepare, but I do not worry.

(2) “Casting all your anxiety on Him because it matters to Him concerning you.” (1 Pet. 5:7)

“Casting” implies throwing to God; that is, committing to God, giving up to God.  The tense of this verb indicates a once-for-all act. “All your anxiety” refers to the whole lot of one’s anxiety throughout one’s entire life.  One’s whole life with all its anxiety should be cast on the Lord. We ought to learn how to cast the burden of anxiety on God. The burden of anxiety may be on our shoulders now; thus, we should offload this burden from our shoulders to God. We are to cast our whole life with all its anxiety on God, because not only is He powerful and righteous towards us, He is loving and faithful as well. We cannot help but be anxious, yet we can cast our anxiety on God. He is very big; He can bear all and is willing to help!

(3) “And when He rose up from prayer and came to the disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow, and He said to them, Why are you sleeping? Rise up and pray that you may not enter into temptation.” (Luke 22:45-46)

Anxiety resulted in deep sleep. The secret for counteracting this is prayer. If we wish to avoid falling into temptation, then we need to stay watchful in prayer. Take a moment to call on the Lord Jesus. If your mind is not disturbed, then the devil cannot do anything.
